Came across incredible work by contemporary visual artist Jim Lambie and had to blog about it! One of the works he is known for is using brightly colored vinyl tape arranged in patterns across the floor of a gallery space. Tracing the shape of the room allows Lambie to uncover the characteristics of its architecture. Using vinyl tape in continuous lines and creating patterns changes the dynamic of a space into a energetic, cheerful, and emotional space. It creates a room that can change ones mood. Using the lines, and patterns also creates energy in a room and can make a person feel as though the room is pulsing, or moving. It distorts our perception and confuses us into wondering if that particular space is expanding or contracting.
